Final Project

1.Give the author's name and a paragraph outlining some biographical information. Please consult 2-3 sources and write your answer from point form notes in order to avoid plagiarism.
Anne Pearson is the author of the book Ancient Greece. Anne Pearson is a published author of children's books and young adult books. All of her published books are written about Greece. She also writes articles about topics such as business and literature.

2. Name and describe the main character(s). Are they static or dynamic? What motivates them? (A static character does not change, a dynamic character changes as a result of his or her experiences) The book Ancient Greece describes the Greek world starting in the Minoan civilization and talks about the environment , people , culture and artifacts from that time. The gods, goddesses, and heroes were dynamic characters that were interesting in this book.

3. What is the novel's setting? Why, in your opinion, did the author choose this setting for this novel? This book is all about Ancient Greece. The author chose this setting so they could add it to eyewitness book series.

4. Describe some of the main events. Where does the climax take place? One of the main events in this book is the story of the Trojan Horse. The Greek army built a wooden horse and left it outside the city with Greek soldiers inside it. The Trojans took the horse into the city and at night the Greek soldiers snuck out and opened the city gates. The other soldiers came in and destroyed the city.

5. Give an example of three different conflicts that take place in the novel. Your conflicts must each be of a different type. Choose from person vs. person, person vs. nature, person vs. In the book Odysseus blinds Polyphemus to teach him a lesson .

1. What are the scenes, incidents or moments which you remember most vividly? The gods were the most memorable part of the book because the gods made the world and gave the people guidance. They were thought to be associated with such things as growing, hunting, telling the future, and love. The people offered them animal sacrifices and fruits of the harvest so that the gods would treat them well.

2. Did you learn anything from the story that you did not know before? Explain (this could be facts or simply seeing something from a different perspective?) I learned about how the homes were designed, and that the Athens city of Athena was built for Athena, the goddesses of wisdom and warfare.

3. Does the novel interest you, irritate you or both? Explain This book was very interesting to me because I like history. I really liked the pictures and their explanations.

4. If you could be any character in the novel, who would you be? Why that character? I would be Herakles because he is the greatest hero of all the Greek heroes. But even though I don't like to be the center of attention I think that Herakles would be the best choice besides Hades who unfortunately is not in this book.

5 Would you like to read more books from the same author? Why? Yes I would like to read more of these book because they have really interesting facts.

Why Boy And Girls Should Be In The Same School

In my opinion boys and girls should be in the same high school. Boys and girls need to learn how to get along together in life. In school, there are teachers and other adults who can help student's to learn about relationships. High school dances wouldn't be as much fun if it was just boys or just girls.

It is important that boys and girls to get along so that they can fall in love and start a family. If boys and girls didn't learn to get along there wouldn't be couples.
It is important that there are caring adults to help boy and girls to fix problems they have with there relationships. Adults help by offering advise resources and support.

High school dances wouldn't be fun with just boy because they would just stand around talking unless it was rap music and they could dance by themselves. The music would be different for example, there wouldn't be sloe dances

Geting along, making frieds and school dances are my reasons why I think boy and girls should be in the same high school.

Introduction to News Reports

-key information comes at the beginning. Alexandre Bilodeau carved his way into Canadian history Sunday at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The 22-year-old from Rosemère, Que., became the first Canadian to win an Olympic gold medal at home, finishing first in the men's moguls skiing final at Cypress Mountain.

-the most important information comes in the first sentence or two (the lead). Alexandre Bilodeau carved his way into Canadian history Sunday at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

-the information is presented most to least relevant. No Canadians won gold at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, and the country was shut out again at the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary. Over 500 Canadian athletes had missed reaching the podium's peak on home soil and Canada had been the only multiple Olympic host never to win gold at home

-the reporter is not part of the story (the reporter writes using 'he,' 'she' or 'they' NOT 'I' or 'me'). Alexandre Bilodeau carved his way into Canadian history.

-the reporter gives as many facts and details as possible. The 22-year-old from Rosemère, Que., became the first Canadian to win an Olympic gold medal.

-reporters try to include either direct or indirect quotations. "It's just the beginning, I think," Bilodeau said. "There are so many Canadians coming up in the other sports. … I'll be in the stands cheering for them. I don't think I really realize it. It's too good to be true."
